The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) announced on Saturday (April 19th) that the new giant panda conservation agreement was officially signed on April 16th during Chinese President Xi Jinping's earlier state visit to Malaysia.

This means that under the long-standing International Cooperation Project on Giant Panda Conservation between Malaysia and the People’s Republic of China, Malaysia will once again host a pair of charming giant pandas for the next decade, from 2025 to 2035!

On the other hand, to ensure a smooth and healthy return for Fu Wa and Feng Yi in May, and to comply with international permit requirements, the pair began a quarantine process on April 18th at the Giant Panda Conservation Centre (PKGP) in Zoo Negara. Visitors can still visit Fu Wa and Feng Yi, but only through the glass panel at the GPCC Learning Centre.

Fu Wa and Feng Yi first arrived in Malaysia on 21 May 2014, and during their stay at Zoo Negara, their three cubs: Nuan Nuan, Yi Yi, and Sheng Yi, have since been repatriated to China.
